Brexit is a topic you just can’t avoid; it’s everywhere, it’s on everyone’s lips and it seems to be never-ending. We do many studies looking at the lives and habits of lorry drivers and others within the transport and logistics industry and figured we’d look at how our industry racks up against others when it comes to Brexit.
Those In Construction Were Most ‘For’ Brexit
We managed to survey of 5,000 Britons from a wide range of industries in the UK. The first thing that we asked them was whether or not they’d voted for Brexit. We found the following five industries had the highest percentage of employees who’d voted for Brexit:
1. Construction (51%)
2. Law enforcement and security (65%)
3. Finance and banking (64%)
4. Environment and agriculture (62%)
5. Marketing (54%)
Healthcare Staff Most Likely To Have Voted Against Brexit
Likewise, the following had the least amount of employees who voted for Brexit (therefore voting against it):
1. Healthcare (10%)
2. Transport and logistics (14%)
3. Wholesale and retail (16%)
4. Recruitment (16%)
5. Education (19%)
But What Were The Top Concerns Surrounding Brexit?
We were intrigued as to why people had voted for against Brexit, so again we asked the questions.
The majority of those in the healthcare industry (79%) admitted they voted against Brexit as they were worried about the future of the NHS and free healthcare, whilst four fifths of those in our industry – transport and logistics – confessed they were worried about how Brexit would affect trade and retail.
Those who voted for Brexit had their concerns too; almost three fifths of construction workers (58%) voted for the change as they felt the UK needed a new direction and slightly more working in law enforcement and security (62%) felt the laws and rules & regulations set in place by the EU were too lenient.
Would People Vote Differently On Brexit Now, Knowing What They Know?
Interestingly, just 12% of those who voted to remain would now change their vote, compared to 37% who voted to leave.
So much is still unknown. Whether we leave or stay, changes are going to happen. What we do know for sure is that the process isn’t coming to an end any time soon – what were the odds of it being pushed back until Halloween?!
